GREENHOOD at the Baltic Sea Archipelagos Symposium 2026 in Turku, Finland

From 27–28 April 2026, GREENHOOD will be in Turku, Finland, for the first-ever Sakari Alhopuro Symposium (Baltic Sea Archipelagos Symposium). This event gathers researchers, policymakers, and business leaders to safeguard the future of the Baltic Sea Archipelagos through science-based collaboration.

About the event

The Baltic Sea Archipelagos Symposium is a forum dedicated to addressing the extensive environmental changes and biodiversity loss impacting the Northern Baltic coastal areas. Hosted by the Sakari Alhopuro Foundation in partnership with the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University, the symposium aims to bridge the gap between scientific findings and practical applications in policy and industry.

The 2026 edition, themed "Brighter Future for the Baltic Sea Archipelagos", focuses on turning the tide for the region through:

  • Scientific knowledge exchange: exploring current research on biodiversity and ecological shifts.
  • Collaborative policy & business: shaping the future of the archipelago through sustainable entrepreneurship and governance.
  • Cross-sector dialogue: bringing together a diverse audience of authorities, NGOs, and industry professionals to foster circular solutions.

GREENHOOD at the event

GREENHOOD’s presence in Turku is driven by our commitment to the Archipelago Sea Basin demo-region, focusing on nutrient recovery and the protection of sensitive marine ecosystems. We are represented by our Finnish partners, who are also official partners of the Symposium.

Led by LUKE (Natural Resources Institute Finland), our work in this demo-region focuses on pioneering strategies to manage nutrient flows and enhance ecological health. To showcase these efforts, GREENHOOD will feature a dedicated stand in the exhibition area hosted by experts from LUKE and the Finnish Biocycle and Biogas Association (Suomen Biokierto ja Biokaasu ry – SBB).

Visitors to the stand can explore the project’s latest tasks and learn about our collaboration with other European initiatives. Are you planning to attend? Meet us at the stand, and discover more about the programme on the official conference website.
