7th IWA International Conference on Ecotechnologies for Wastewater Treatment (ecoSTP 2025)
GREENHOOD joined the 7th IWA International Conference on Ecotechnologies for Wastewater Treatment (ecoSTP 2025), held in Stockholm, Sweden, from 23 to 26 June 2025. The event brought together experts from academia, industry, and policy to discuss innovative solutions for sustainable water and wastewater management.
About the event
ecoSTP 2025 focused on cutting-edge technologies and practices in both municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, with themes ranging from resource recovery and water reuse to nature-based solutions and wastewater-based epidemiology. The conference’s interdisciplinary approach aimed to bridge the gap between research and practical implementation, promoting dialogue among researchers, technology providers, utilities, and policymakers to accelerate the transition to a Water-Wise World. Key topics included emerging contaminants, digitalisation, and the integration of wastewater innovations in circular cities.
GREENHOOD's contribution
Paula Carrera Fernández, researcher at the BETA Technological Centre (UVIC), contributed to the conference by participating in the workshop “Advancing Nature-Based Solutions for Wastewater Treatment and Urban Water Management: Insights, Challenges, and Hands-On Experience.”
During the session, Paula shared insights from the research conducted at BETA, highlighting the role of nature-based solutions in the GREENHOOD project and its implementation in the Ebro River Basin demo region. She also took part in a roundtable discussion, engaging with other experts to reflect on the practical challenges and opportunities of scaling up such solutions in real-world contexts.
