Lantamessut Tuorlassa – Archipelago Sea Basin Workshop

GREENHOOD is hosting its first workshop in the Archipelago Sea Basin demo-region, entitled Lantamessut Tuorlassa. The workshop focuses on increasing awareness of the GREENHOOD project and presenting proposed mitigation measures to reduce nutrient losses in the basin.
This event brings together researchers, policy makers, industry representatives, and farmers to discuss sustainable solutions for nutrient management in agriculture.
GREENHOOD activities
During the workshop, GREENHOOD will present the project and its objectives, followed by a discussion of targeted measures aimed at restoring the Archipelago Sea Basin’s ecological balance. These measures include producing bio-based fertilisers from manure and sewage sludge, expanding the use of soil amendments to minimise nutrient losses, enhancing nutrient budget monitoring through improved models, supporting policy development for nutrient recycling incentives, and providing practical support to help farms and businesses adopt sustainable solutions.
Demo-region context
The Archipelago Sea Basin is in moderate ecological condition overall, though its rivers face significant pressure from high nutrient loads, primarily stemming from agricultural activities. The workshop will focus on how GREENHOOD’s measures can help alleviate these pressures and contribute to improved water quality in the region. Read more about the Archipelago Sea Basin demo-region.
Programme highlights
The event kicks off with the GREENHOOD workshop from 13:00 to 15:00, featuring discussions on nutrient loss mitigation measures and the exchange of ideas for further action. A coffee break will be provided during the session. From 15:00 to 18:00, participants can join Lantamessut for networking opportunities, equipment demonstrations, and practical insights on manure recycling.
