Shaping Trøndelag’s new circular value chains banner

GREENHOOD is heading to Trøndelag on 27 January 2026 for a cross-sector workshop focused on circular innovation. By bringing together leaders from the marine, forest, and farming industries, partners like NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and NCE Aquatech Cluster are identifying new ways to turn regional bioresources into sustainable, profitable value chains.

About the event

The workshop serves as a strategic meeting point for the FoSiMo project (Research-based Circular Business Models) to explore how Trøndelag can better utilise its bioresources across sectors. Participants are expected to engage in thematic sessions covering the entire value chain, from the logistics of manure and fish sludge to the processing of biogas and the market potential of recycled fertilisers.

By connecting residual resources like forest fractions, waste heat, and ash, the session aims to develop specific value chain variants. Attendees will leave with a strengthened cross-sector network and a prioritised list of measures for future piloting and investment in the region.

To provide a starting point, a preparatory webinar will be held on 23 January (09:00–11:00) to present material flow analyses and key system challenges. While the webinar is open to all, it is highly recommended for workshop attendees to ensure a common technical foundation.

GREENHOOD's contribution

As the coordinator of the Trondheim Fjord Basin demo-region, NTNU, alongside partners like NCE Aquatech Cluster, is utilising the GREENHOOD framework to provide a systemic reference for these regional innovations. This workshop is a key activity within the demo-region, where GREENHOOD solutions for biogas and nutrient recovery are being tested in a real-world setting.

The initiative builds on GREENHOOD’s mission to rebalance nutrient flows by integrating fish sludge and manure into high-quality fertiliser production. By documenting agronomic effects and exploring industrial symbioses, GREENHOOD and FoSiMo are ensuring that scientific data from the Trondheim Fjord pilots directly informs profitable, circular business models for Norwegian industry.
