SmartSjø, previously known as the Technology and Aquaculture Conference, took place on February 18th and 19th, at the Britannia Hotel in Trondheim, Norway. This conference, now in its fifth edition, is a collaborative effort between NCE Aquatech Cluster, Sjømat Norge, and the sector group for technology and services.

Bringing together key players from the aquaculture industry, SmartSjø serves as a platform to discuss the latest advancements in aquaculture technology. The 2025 edition focused on critical issues such as fish health and welfare, emerging solutions, and potential regulatory frameworks.

A major topic of discussion was the role of artificial intelligence in addressing industry challenges and enhancing sustainability. The conference attracted professionals from the business sector, public administration, and regulatory authorities, fostering dialogue and innovation within the aquaculture ecosystem.

GREENHOOD at SmartSjø

As part of the GREENHOOD consortium, NCE Aquatech Cluster played a dual role at SmartSjø 2025, both as an organiser of the event and as a representative of GREENHOOD. The cluster actively showcased the project's dedication to driving sustainable innovation in aquaculture, engaging with industry experts, stakeholders, and policymakers to highlight GREENHOOD’s objectives and explore potential synergies with emerging technologies in the sector.

Through strategic networking and knowledge exchange, GREENHOOD leveraged the event to connect with potential collaborators, share insights on cutting-edge advancements, and discuss how AI and new technologies can enhance fish health and welfare.

SmartSjø 2025 provided a vital platform to introduce GREENHOOD to the broader aquaculture ecosystem, strengthening its visibility and supporting the industry's transition toward more resilient and sustainable practices.
