AQUAPHOENIX

AQUAPHOENIX works on real solutions to address the environmental challenges of aquaculture, the world’s fastest-growing food industry. While vital for food security, aquaculture faces pressing issues such as nitrogen and phosphorus (N+P) emissions, waste accumulation, and unsustainable feed sources. Through a holistic approach involving fish farmers, researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers, AQUAPHOENIX is developing the innovative SludgeCollect system to mitigate N+P pollution, valorise sludge into renewable energy, sustainable fertilisers, and feed ingredients, and advance Europe’s zero-pollution agenda. The project will demonstrate its solutions at seven aquaculture sites in Norway and Finland, driving large-scale waste valorisation and ensuring healthier seas by 2050.
