Living Labs for Mitigating Climate Change in Agriculture

On 24–25 April 2025, GREENHOOD will join the Living-Labs for Mitigating Climate Change in Agriculture Conference, taking place in Barcelona, Spain.
About the event
The EU’s climate neutrality goal by 2050 demands urgent action in agriculture, a sector critical for food security yet responsible for significant emissions. Rising temperatures, water scarcity, and extreme weather, particularly in the Mediterranean, further threaten productivity and rural livelihoods. Living Labs, which unite researchers, policymakers, businesses, and citizens, offer a collaborative framework to develop and scale climate-resilient solutions.
This two-day conference, organised by CONCAT Living Lab, EcoReady, PRIMED, REFOREST, and the Interreg Euro-MED Innovative Sustainable Economy Mission, will:
- Identify key climate challenges and co-create a shared vision for resilient agriculture.
- Align stakeholders across sectors to design effective mitigation strategies.
- Showcase and exchange scalable innovations through Living Labs.
- Establish a long-term network of transformative Living Labs.
Why attend?
This event is designed for technology centres, universities, farmers, policymakers, and researchers working at the intersection of agriculture and climate resilience. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on working groups to develop actionable strategies, explore innovations in regenerative farming, water security, nature-based solutions, and circular bioeconomy, and strengthen collaborations to accelerate real-world impact.
Working groups
Attendees will collaborate in four thematic groups, each addressing critical challenges:
- Regenerative Agriculture & Climate-Resilient Landscapes
Focus: Soil health, carbon sequestration, and policy incentives for sustainable land management. - Water Security & Adaptive Strategies
Focus: Climate-smart irrigation, drought adaptation, and equitable water governance. - Nature-Based Solutions & Ecosystem Restoration
Focus: Agroforestry, biodiversity-driven land use, and flood resilience. - Climate-Smart Food Systems & Market Transitions
Focus: Low-emission supply chains, biowaste valorisation, and just market shifts.
GREENHOOD at the event
Through the BETA Technology Centre, GREENHOOD will highlight its work in the Ebro River Basin demo region, demonstrating how Living Labs can drive regional climate adaptation. This aligns with the project’s mission to advance governance, innovation, and stakeholder collaboration for resilient agro-food systems.
